Random Case Converter — Free Online Tool
What is Random Case Converter?
Random Case randomly assigns uppercase or lowercase to each letter in your text, creating an unpredictable, chaotic appearance. Unlike Alternating Case, which follows a strict pattern, Random Case uses true randomness — so running the same text twice can produce a completely different result.
It is mainly used for humour, memes, aesthetic social media posts, and creative text effects where readability is secondary to visual impact.
When to use Random Case Converter?
Use Random Case for memes and comedic social media posts on Reddit, Twitter, and Discord. Gamers use it in chat for an absurd, chaotic aesthetic. Content creators apply it to thumbnails and captions for attention-grabbing text.
It pairs well with other creative text tools like the Glitch Text Generator or Zalgo Text Generator for even more dramatic effects. If you want a predictable alternating pattern instead, use the Alternating Case Converter.
How to use this tool
- 1Paste your text in the input box
- 2Click 'Convert' to randomize letter cases
- 3Copy and refresh for different randomization
Because the randomisation changes with each click, you can run the same input multiple times to find a pattern you like. Copy it quickly before converting again.
Examples
| Input | Output |
|---|---|
| hello world | hElLO WoRld |
| the case converter | ThE CAsE coNvERtEr |
| random is fun | rAnDom IS FUn |
| make it chaotic | MakE it ChAOTIC |
| creative text | cREaTivE teXT |
Rules & Behavior
- Each letter is independently and randomly assigned either uppercase or lowercase. The randomisation is uniform, giving roughly equal chances of either case.
- The result changes with each conversion. Because of true randomness, clicking Convert on the same input text will produce a different output every time.
- Non-alphabetic characters — numbers, spaces, symbols, and punctuation — are left unchanged. Only letters (A–Z, a–z) are subject to random case assignment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is random case?
Random case randomly assigns uppercase or lowercase to each letter in your text, creating an unpredictable, chaotic appearance like rAnDoM cAsE. Unlike Alternating Case which follows a strict pattern, random case produces a different result each time because it uses true randomness for every character.
Why does it look different each time?
The randomisation is different every time you click Convert. Each letter independently gets a 50/50 chance of being uppercase or lowercase. This means the same input text can produce thousands of unique output variations. Click multiple times until you find a pattern you like.
Is random case good for readability?
No, random case is intentionally hard to read. It is designed for humour, memes, and creative visual effects, not for clear communication. If you need readable text with consistent formatting, use Sentence Case for body text or Title Case for headings.
Is it the same as alternating case?
No. Alternating case follows a strict lowercase-uppercase-lowercase pattern that is identical every time. Random case uses true randomness, so the output pattern is different with each conversion. Alternating case is predictable; random case is chaotic.
Does it change numbers or punctuation?
No. Only alphabetical letters are affected by the randomisation. Numbers, spaces, punctuation marks, emoji, and all other non-letter characters remain exactly as they are in the output.
